Whole School Activities

Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day is held on the first Sunday of March every year, and encourages people to clean up their local areas. Any person can register a public place they want to clean up on the Clean Up Australia website, and other budding environmentalists can join them there to help out. The pastoral care team thought that it would be a good idea to get involved.

This year Sirius College IDC also joined in the fun of Clean Up Australia Day. Students learnt the importance of proper rubbish disposal and the negative impact litter has on our environment. Students become responsible for an area within our school and local community and removed general waste lying around. Every student felt a sense of achievement when they saw the beautiful parks and school free from human waste. Sirius College to the rescue!

We would like to thank to all teachers and staff who shared their lessons and helped out on the day. And thanks to all our students who participated to this activity.

Let's see if next year we can make an even bigger positive impact on our local environment and water ways!

Fundraising Committee

On the 15th of March, fundraising committee organised a doner, drink and ice-cream sale.

Also during the last week of school, committee members organised a popcorn and drink sale on Monday, henna on Tuesday and fairy floss and sausage sizzle on Wednesday for Harmony Day.

The collected money from all sales will be used for our school's needs and for charity purposes.

Thank you to our students, parents and staff for their contributions.

Coordinator's Message

Dear Parents, Staff & Students,

We are coming to an end of another successful school term. Even though Term 1 has been short, it has been very busy and exciting. Since it was the start of a new academic year, we have new students and staff at our school, and they have been given a warm welcome by the school environment. During Term 1, our students have experienced wonderful excursions/events such as the arts excursions, interschool sports (students participated in volleyball, soccer and tennis) and raising charities for the needy and many more.

I am pleased to announce that our new soccer and volleyball/tennis court, which our students have been impatiently waiting for, is now up and running. It provides students various opportunities to play soccer, volleyball, tennis and other sports. The new play areas have definitely added a lot of excitement and fostered positive vibe amongst students. It is wonderful to see our campus is continuously growing.

After School support classes continue to run for English, Mathematics and Science during various days. Thank you to the fabulous staff members who are sacrificing their precious time in supporting students. I also want to extend my gratitude to the Pastoral Care Department for organising various activities and weekend events for our students. These programs help develop and encourage the success and growth of our students, mentally, physically and spiritually.

I would now like to take this opportunity to mention important items:

· Students have all been given their username and passwords for SEQTA. If there are any issues they must consult with relevant coordinators. I believe that SEQTA will be available for parents in Term 2.

· Parent-Teacher interviews are in week 2 of Term 2.

· I would like to thank parents for helping us with ensuring that students come to school with full school uniform. During Terms 2 & 3, it will be compulsory for students to come to school wearing the school blazer. However, I would like to remind parents that no student should be coming to school with their sports hoodies, as this is part of their sports uniform, not the formal school uniform (A detailed letter regarding Term 2 & Term 3 uniform codes will be sent out next term).

· All school uniform is available from Fountain Bookshop, so parents need to make sure students have correct school uniform.

· Students out of uniform must come to school with a signed letter from home in order to be issued a uniform pass.

· Students must make sure that they keep their lockers locked and clean.

· School hours are between 8:30am-3:30pm. Can parents please make sure that they do not drop their kids off to school very early and pick them up late. Outside these hours teachers will not be supervising students. Students who are staying for Pastoral Care or other extra curricular activities also need to be picked up on time.

· Period 1 at our school starts at 9am, therefore, students need to get to school on time to prepare their materials for the first three periods. The office is recording students who are continuously late and issuing them warnings.

· NAPLAN tests for Years 7 & 9 will be conducted in week 5 of Term 2, beginning on the 10th May.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and hope that all students and staff come back safe for Term 2!
